A Milwaukee police officer who was part of an FBI task force shot and wounded two suspects after he was struck by their car and pinned against an unmarked police vehicle.

Fleeing suspects used a vehicle last week to ram into and pin a Milwaukee police officer, who was part of multi-agency task force trying to apprehend a man wanted on multiple felony warrants.

An FBI task force that included U.S. Marshals and Milwaukee and state police officers were outside a building Friday, waiting to arrest a suspect wanted on violent felony warrants, the police department stated in a news release. When the suspect and two other people exited the building, police made their move and tried to take the targeted suspect into custody.

The suspects jumped into a vehicle and then rammed an officer, pinning him against an unmarked police vehicle. The officer opened fire, and two suspects were struck by the shot.

A third suspect tried to flee the scene, but he was caught by authorities. Police recovered a firearm in the incident, according to WTMJ-TV.

"The officer that discharged his firearm is a 31-year-old male with over five years of service," the department news release stated. "He was taken to the hospital for treatment of non-fatal injuries."

The male suspects who were shot were 20 and 18 years old. They were taken to the hospital and are expected to recover.
